Suryakumar Yadav has said he was shocked at being removed as India’s T20I captain, spending 40 to 50 days at home wondering whether he still wanted to play.
Speaking to Aakash Chopra, he said he had expected to lead for another two years, through the Olympics and the next T20 World Cup. “I sat at home for 40-50 days. I was completely shocked,” PTI and The Tribune quoted him as saying. He added he had not lost a series in two years and had won the World Cup and Asia Cup.
Shreyas Iyer was appointed T20I captain after Suryakumar was left out of the squad for the Ireland and England tour. Selectors had earlier pointed to form and the next World Cup cycle, India Today reported.
