Sensex falls 307 points, Nifty ends below 24,100 as crude jumps

Indian benchmarks closed lower on Monday as US-Iran tensions lifted crude oil and kept investors cautious ahead of GDP numbers. The Sensex fell 307.24 points, or 0.40%, to 76,957.27. The Nifty 50 fell 95.25 points, or 0.39%, to 24,080.40.

Zee Business said the market value of BSE-listed companies fell by Rs 2.75 lakh crore on the day. For August as a whole, the Nifty dropped 1.2% and the Sensex 1.5%, snapping a two-month winning streak, Business Standard reported, even as mid- and small-caps gained.
