How Inde News reports, sources, verifies and corrects. These are the rules our journalists work to.
Accuracy
We verify before we publish. Where a claim cannot be independently confirmed, we say so plainly in the story rather than implying certainty we do not have. Speed never justifies publishing something we have not checked.
Sourcing
We name our sources wherever possible. Anonymity is granted only where a source faces a real risk — legal, professional or personal — and where the information is of clear public interest. When we use an unnamed source we tell readers why the source is unnamed and what position gives them knowledge of the matter.
We do not publish single-source claims about matters of fact where corroboration is reasonably obtainable.
Right of reply
Anyone facing significant criticism or an allegation in our reporting is given a fair opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is carried in the story. If they decline to comment, we say so.
Distinguishing fact from comment
News reporting and opinion are clearly separated. Everything published under Opinion is labelled as comment and reflects the view of the named author, not of Inde News.
Conflicts of interest
Journalists declare financial interests, political affiliations and personal relationships that bear on their reporting, and recuse themselves where a conflict cannot be managed by disclosure. We do not accept gifts, paid travel or hospitality from people or organisations we cover without disclosing it in the resulting story.
Advertising and sponsored content
Commercial content is labelled “Sponsored” or “Paid content” at the top of the article and is visually distinct from editorial. Advertisers never see editorial copy before publication and have no influence over what we cover.
Artificial intelligence

Images
We do not alter the content of news photographs beyond standard cropping and tonal adjustment. Illustrations, reconstructions and AI-generated imagery are labelled as such.
News roundups
Alongside our own reporting, Inde News publishes curated briefings — roundups of stories reported by other outlets. Every item in a briefing carries the headline as published, the name of the outlet that reported it, and a link to the original. Briefings are labelled as roundups and are not presented as Inde News reporting; we do not independently verify the reports they link to. Our own journalism is reported, written and checked by a named human journalist, as set out above.
