Telangana Today reported on Thursday that the decision had been conveyed to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s office. Surekha had refused to resign, telling reporters after meetings in Delhi that the high command had not asked her to quit and daring the leadership to sack her if it wished.
The TPCC Disciplinary Committee recommended action after remarks by Surekha’s daughter, Konda Sushmitha, against the chief minister. Surekha said her daughter is an adult and that she could not be held responsible for those comments. Hindustan Times and The Hindu reported she met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and put her case to the party.
Planning Board vice-chairman G. Chinna Reddy has also been removed. Telangana Today said Women’s Commission chairperson Gadwal Vijayalakshmi will replace him, with Nerella Sharada named the new Women’s Commission chairperson.
