DAC clears Rs 1.10 lakh crore in defence purchases, 98% from Indian industry

The Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Rajnath Singh, has given in-principle approval to capital purchases of about Rs 1.10 lakh crore for the Army, Navy and Air Force. About 98% is to be sourced from Indian industry.

The Ministry of Defence said the council accorded Acceptance of Necessity on Monday for CBRN recce vehicles, high-mobility vehicles, mechanical mine layers, Advanced Light Helicopters, trawl tanks and the Sarvatra bridge system for the Army; Arudhra radars and marine gas turbines for the Navy; and fighter, transport and helicopter upgrades plus ground-based jammers and a smart-card identity system for the Air Force.
