Nepal’s flash-flood death toll rose to 1,050 on Tuesday, as India’s external affairs ministry said 163 Indian nationals had been rescued and 151 others had left China.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said five more Indians were rescued since Monday, taking the total to 163. A 24-member Indian tunnel rescue team is working with the Nepal Army at hydropower tunnels in Chilime, Rasuwa, using improvised floats to move deeper inside, the ministry said.
Nepal’s disaster authority said 3,916 people remained unaccounted for as of 6pm, including foreigners and security personnel. More than 11,800 people have been rescued. The ministry also said 151 Indian nationals left China on Tuesday.
