A 2013-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre officer has stepped down after 13 years, in a note that has spread widely through Indian media this morning.

Divya Mittal, an IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore graduate who left a London finance job to join the IAS, announced her resignation on Sunday in a post on X. She described the 13-year journey as “unforgettable” and did not cite a controversy or administrative dispute as the reason for leaving.
Mittal has served as district magistrate in Mirzapur, Deoria and Sant Kabir Nagar, and was most recently Special Secretary in the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Department. During her Mirzapur posting she was associated with bringing piped water to Lahuriadah, a remote hill village. A final decision on the resignation rests with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, on the recommendation of the state government, India Today reported.
